Novitas Solutions invites you to join us at our annual Medicare Symposium.
This in-person educational event is for our Part A and Part B Medicare providers, and their billing compliance representatives. Classes will highlight the tools and information you need to avoid billing pitfalls and remain complaint with the Medicare program. This year we are offering 15 classes. You can spend the day with us or attend as many classes that interest you.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage with the Medicare Provider Outreach and Education team and network with your colleagues.

The symposium is FREE to attend. Depending on the location there may be a fee for parking, which is your responsibility.
You must register through the Novitas Medicare Learning Center. Select the desired symposium by clicking on the associated registration link and you will be directed to log into the Novitas Medicare Learning Center. Make sure you carefully review the course descriptors and select only one class for each session.
If you do not have a Novitas Medicare Learning Center account, you will need to create one prior to registering. Visit the Novitas Medicare Learning Center and select 'Request a new account.' You will receive an email confirmation within three business days with your login information. Accounts are free for Medicare providers.

Insight into the National Correct Coding Initiative Program (A/B)
This class will address the proper billing and coding of the National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) and the Medically Unlikely Edits (MUE). Attendees will learn how to properly bill when NCCI and MUE edits apply. We will discuss the initiatives, navigate the NCCI tables and edits via the website, provide modifier information, and documentation requirements. We will conclude with an interactive discussion of NCCI modifier and MUE scenarios.
Hospital Services: Inpatient Part A
This class will provide an overview of Inpatient Hospital billing from patient admission to discharge. We will review key billing elements to understand Medicare guidelines in order to ensure that proper reimbursement is obtained.
Novitasphere Part B - Your Online Key to Saving Time and Money (B)
Novitasphere will save your office time and money! Learn the basics steps to enroll and explore the many features Novitasphere has to offer. Part B features include: eligibility inquiry claim submission, electronic remittance advice, claim correction, and more. This class will also provide answers to the most frequently asked questions and provide resources to assist you when using Novitasphere.
Building the Foundation to Proper Modifier Reporting (B)
This class will provide you with the essential tools and techniques of proper modifier billing. Attendees will receive an overview of proper modifier reporting, review principles of global surgery concepts, evaluation and management modifiers, and other modifiers. We will conclude with valuable tools and techniques to reduce your administrative work and submit your claims correctly the first time.
Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Basics, Billing and More (A)
This class will provide an overview of SNF coverage and billing requirements. We will provide guidance on consolidated billing and special billing processes such as: benefits exhaust, demand billing, no-payment billing, and level of care changes. We will also review top reported errors to assist you in lowering your error rate.

Scoring Evaluation and Management Services Part 1 - Review of the Score Sheet (B)
You will learn the key components of an Evaluation and Management (E/M) service (history, exam, medical decision making) and how they relate to the score sheet used by Novitas Solutions. Excerpts of medical records will be used as examples of crediting the key components using the score sheet. We will provide answers to the most frequently asked questions, and provide tips and resources to assist you when coding E/M services.
Keep Your Medicare Patients Well by Promoting Preventive Services (A/B)
This class will discuss the coverage guidelines for a better understanding of preventive services. We will demonstrate valuable billing information.
Your Guide to Understanding Medicare Secondary Payer Part A
This class will introduce you to Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) basics, billing, coordination of benefits, and common errors. The information you will receive in this class will enhance your knowledge and will help to ensure proper billing and coding of MSP claims.
Part B Redetermination versus Reopening: Which One Do I Choose? (B)
This class will focus on the Medicare redetermination and reopening process. You will learn the different levels of appeal, as well as the difference between a redetermination and a reopening. We will conclude with examples of redeterminations, and how to utilize our self- service tools.
Scoring Evaluation and Management Services Part 2 - Interactive Scoring (B)
This is an interactive class where you will review medical records and score them using the Novitas Score Sheet. We recommend that you attend the Scoring Evaluation and Management Services Part 1 – Review of the Score Sheet prior to attending this class.
Exploring the Wonderful World of PECOS and Revalidation - Cycle 2 for Part B Providers and Suppliers (B)
Tackle your enrollment needs by submitting your applications through the Internet-based Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership System (Internet-based PECOS). This course will provide you with a comprehensive overview of completing PECOS for Part B initial enrollments and revalidation. Join us for this comprehensive overview of several Part B enrollment scenarios in PECOS including Groups/Suppliers, Individuals, Reassignment of Benefits, and Revalidation. PECOS is, fast, easy and can be instantly accessed. Don’t miss this session!
Part A Redetermination versus Reopening: Which On Do I Choose (A)
