Novitasphere users will utilize their Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) device to generate a unique security code each time they log into Novitasphere or Identity Management (IDM). You will need to enter a new security code each time that you log into either system as the code are only valid to be entered for a limited time. It is not possible to use the same code all day, or for multiple log ins. If you are logged out of Novitasphere due to 30 minutes of inactivity, you will be required to generate a new security code to log back in. Please see the steps below to log into Novitasphere and IDM.

1.
For the Novitasphere Portal, go to https://www.novitasphere.com. For IDM, go to https://home.idm.cms.gov. Enter your User ID, Password, and check the box to Agree to the Terms & Conditions. Select Sign In |
2. Select your MFA device by clicking the dropdown arrow. Enter in your security code and click Verify. |
3. If you selected Text Message – Short Message Service (SMS), Interactive Voice Response (IVR), or E-mail as the MFA Device Type, select Request Code to have a code generated. Once you receive the code, enter the code received and select Verify. For codes generated via Text Message – Short Message Service (SMS) and Interactive Voice Response (IVR), the Security Code will be valid for 10 minutes. If you are unable to enter the code within 10 minutes, you will need to request a new code to be sent. For email, the code will expire in 30 minutes. If you are unable to enter the code within 30 minutes, you will need to request a new code to be sent. During periods of extreme email latency, codes may not be received timely, and may cause error messages when attempting to log in if the code is no longer valid once received. |

4. If you no longer have access to the MFA devices associated to your IDM profile, please contact the Novitasphere Help Desk at 1-855-880-8424. The Novitasphere Help desk can update the E-mail address associated to your IDM profile. Once your E-mail address has been updated, you can sign in to your IDM profile and remove the MFA devices that you no longer have access to. |
5. After your E-mail address has been updated, an E-mail with the Security Code will be sent to the E-mail address on your profile. Note: This security code will expire in 30 minutes or after it is used successfully for the first time. If you are unable to enter the code within 30 minutes of when it was generated, you will need to request a new code be sent. During periods of extreme email latency, codes may not be received timely, and may cause error messages when attempting to log in if the code is no longer valid once received. |
